O anúncio de percursos diferentes para homens e mulheres nas provas de ciclismo de estrada nos Jogos Olímpicos de Tóquio 2020 gerou descontentamento entre as atletas. Algumas das principais representantes do esporte reclamaram da diferença entre as rotas, divulgadas na quinta-feira.
A rota masculina nas Olimpíadas de Tóquio 2020 tem 234 km, com ganho de elevação total de 4.865 metros, e conta com cinco trechos de montanha – um deles no Monte Fuji, a montanha mais alta do Japão.
Já a disputa feminina terá 137 km, com dois trechos de montanha e 2.692 metros de ganho de elevação, sem passar pelo icônico Monte Fuji.
No Twitter, a ciclista japonesa Eri Yonamine reclamou da falta de discussão sobre a igualdade de gênero no país que será sede das próximas Olimpíadas. “Há muitas discussões sobre a diferença entre homens e mulheres no mundo, mas no Japão ninguém está falando sobre igualdade de gênero: mídia, federação, atletas, equipe…”.

A ciclista holandesa Annemiek van Vleuten respondeu a um tweet do blog The Inner Ring questionando a diferença dos trajetos.
Como resposta a outro comentário, a campeã mundial de ciclismo de estrada escreveu “Desapontada (novamente!) em ver a diferença de rotas entre homens e mulheres para a corrida de estrada”
