O suíço Fabian Cancellara venceu nesta quarta-feira (10) a disputa do contrarrelógio no ciclismo de estrada masculino da Rio 2016. Foi a segunda medalha de ouro olímpica conquistada por Cancellara na modalidade, depois de seu primeiro triunfo em Pequim (2008).
Ele completou o percurso de 54,5 km em 1h12min15, com pouco menos de um minuto de vantagem sobre o holandês Tom Dumoulin, segundo colocado com o tempo de 1h13min02. Atual campeão do Tour de France, o britânico Chris Froome repetiu o feito de Londres (2012) e foi o terceiro colocado, com 1h13min17, conquistando na Rio 2016 seu segundo bronze olímpico.
O suíço, que é conhecido como Spartacus no meio do ciclismo, tem ainda em seu currículo uma medalha de prata olímpica conquistada na prova de resistência em Pequim (2008), além de sete medalhas no mundial de contrarrelógio, sendo quatro de ouro (2006, 2007, 2009 e 2010) e três de bronze (2005, 2011 e 2013).
