O time formado por Sir Bradley Wiggins, Edward Clancy, Steven Burke e Owain Doull conquistou o segundo ouro britânico no velódromo, ao vencer a prova masculina de perseguição por equipes com o tempo de 3min50seg26 – média de 62,53 km/h -, estabelecendo um novo recorde mundial para a modalidade. A medalha de prata ficou com o time australiano – Alexander Edmondson, Jack Bobridge, Michael Hepburn e Sam Welsford -, que marcou 3min51, e o bronze com o dinamarquês – Lasse Norman Hansen, Niklas Larsen, Frederik Madsen, Casper von Folsach, com 3min53seg78.
Ainda nesta sexta-feira, ocorreu a prova de velocidade por equipes feminina, desta vez dominada pelas chinesas. Já na seletiva para a final, Jinjie Gong e Tianshi Zhong bateram o recorde mundial da modalidade, completando as duas voltas (500 m no total) em 31seg928 – média de 56,37 km/h . Já na final, levaram o ouro com o tempo de 32seg107, vencendo as russas – Daria Shmeleva e Anastasiia Voinova, que ficaram em segundo com 32seg401, e as alemãs – Miriam Welte e Kristina Vogel – em terceiro com 32seg636.
