Começa nesta quarta-feira (3), nos Emirados Árabes, a 3ª edição do Tour de Dubai. Uma das provas mais novas do calendário World Tour da UCI (União Ciclística Internacional), ela é encarada por boa parte dos ciclistas e equipes como preparatória para as principais competições da temporada (clássicas e grandes voltas), mas nem por isso deixa de reunir grandes nomes do Pro Tour. Dentre as estrelas que disputarão esta edição estão o atual campeão Mark Cavendish (Dimension Data), Bradley Wiggins (Team Wiggins), Fabian Cancellara (Trek Segafredo) Philippe Gibert (BMC Racing Team), Marcel Kittel (Etixx-QuickStep), Elia Viviani (Team Sky) e o português Rui Costa (Lampre-Merida).
A 3ª edição do Tour de Dubai contará com um percurso total de 678 km, dividido em quatro etapas, todas elas partindo do Dubai International Marine Club. Nesta quarta (3), na primeira etapa, os competidores irão encarar 173 km em direção a Fujairah. Na quinta (4), na segunda etapa, o destino será Palm Jumeirah, perfazendo um trajeto total de 183 km. Na terceira etapa, na sexta-feira (5), serão 172 km até Hatta Dam. A etapa derradeira desta 3ª edição do Tour de Dubai acontecerá no sábado (6), com 137 km e chegada no Business Bay.
