No início deste mês, no Reino Unido, a corredora Lindsy James, de 37 anos, decidiu correr a Meia Maratona de Ramathon, na cidade de Derby, na Inglaterra, empurrando seu filho de 8 meses e meio em um carrinho de bebê.
Ela marcou 1h27m34s e quebrou o recorde anterior da americana Nancy Schubring, que durou 15 anos, em mais de 3 minutos. Tudo foi registrado pelo marido de Lindsy, outro que participou da prova, e mais duas testemunhas independentes que validaram o recorde.
Junto com a quebra da marca, o objetivo de Lindsy foi angariar fundos para a MacMillan Cancer Support, uma vez que sua mãe faleceu no ano passado em decorrência de um câncer.
Seu recorde vem alguns meses após o norte-americano Calum Neff, do Texas, quebrar o recorde dos homens, empurrando um carrinho de bebê na Katy Half Marathon em 1h11m27s, em fevereiro.
