O nadador Bruno Fratus começou muito bem a temporada 2015 de natação: na última sexta-feira (16), o brasileiro foi medalha de ouro na prova mais rápida da natação, os 50 m livres, no Grand Prix do Texas, em Austin (EUA).
Com a marca de 21s91, Fratus deixou para trás os norte-americanos Nathan Adrian, medalha de ouro nos 100 m livres nos Jogos de Londres 2012, que ficou em segundo lugar, e Anthony Ervin, campeão olímpico dos 50 m livres em 2000, sétimo colocado. O pódio foi completado por Kristian Gkolom, que ficou com o bronze (22s31).
O tempo de 21s91 feito pelo brasileiro logo na primeira prova de 2015 o deixaria em 16.º lugar entre os melhores de 2014 e o classificaria com sobras para os Jogos Olímpicos do Rio de Janeiro de 2016. A tomada de índices, porém, só começa em março.
