O Ironman acaba de anunciar uma mudança em suas regras para combater as fraudes tecnológicas e mecânicas na bike. Em parceria com a União Ciclística Internacional, a organização promete caçar os polêmicos motores escondidos nas bicicletas.
Obviamente, o motor traz uma vantagem desleal e anti-esportiva, o tão falado “doping mecânico.” O CEO do Ironman Andrew Messick declarou que nenhum triatleta foi pego ainda usando o motor ou qualquer outro auxílio mecânico ilegal. Vale lembrar que vários atletas profissionais do ciclismo foram acusados de utilizá-los.
Segundo a nova regra, o Ironman poderá inspecionar as bikes em todo o mundo, após os atletas entregarem a bike na T2, enquanto os atletas estiverem correndo. Eventuais atletas flagrados serão desclassificados da prova e suspensos de todos os eventos da marca Ironman por tempo indeterminado.
